How to choose a better quality cosmetic hose packaging?


As a convenient and economical packaging material, cosmetic hoses have been widely used and popularized in the field of daily chemical products. A good hose can not only protect the contents, but also improve the product level, thereby winning more consumers for daily chemical companies. So, for daily chemical companies, how to choose high-quality plastic hoses to adapt to their products? We will introduce it from several important aspects.




The selection and quality of materials are the key to ensuring the quality of hoses, which directly affects the processing and final use of hoses. The materials of plastic hoses include polyethylene (for tube body and tube head), polypropylene (tube cover), masterbatch, barrier resin, ink, varnish, etc., so the choice of any material will directly affect the quality of the hose. However, the choice of materials also depends on factors such as hygiene requirements, barrier properties (oxygen resistance, water vapor resistance, fragrance preservation, etc.), and chemical resistance.


Pipe selection: First of all, the materials used should meet the relevant hygiene standards, and harmful substances such as heavy metals and fluorescent agents should be controlled within the specified range. For example, for hoses exported to the United States, the polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) used should comply with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standard 21cfr117.1520.


Material barrier properties: Daily chemical companies contain products that are particularly sensitive to oxygen (such as some whitening cosmetics) or volatile products (such as essential oils or corrosive chemicals such as certain oils, acids, and salts). At this time, a five-layer co-extruded tube should be used. Because the oxygen permeability of the five-layer co-extruded tube (PE adhesive resin EVOH adhesive resin PE) is 0.2-1.2 units, while the oxygen permeability of ordinary PE single-layer tubes is 150-300 units. In a certain period of time, the weight loss rate of the co-extruded tube is dozens of times lower than that of the single-layer tube. In addition, EVOH is an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer with excellent barrier properties and fragrance retention (the thickness is best at 15-20 microns).


Material stiffness: Daily chemical companies have different requirements for the stiffness of cosmetic hoses. How to obtain the required stiffness? Low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, and linear low-density polyethylene are commonly used in hoses. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) has better stiffness than low-density polyethylene (LDPE), and the expected stiffness can be achieved by adjusting the ratio of HDPE to LDPE.


Chemical resistance: HDPE has better chemical resistance than LDPE.


Material weather resistance: In order to control the short-term or long-term performance of the hose, the following factors need to be considered: appearance, pressure drop resistance, sealing strength, environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR value), fragrance and loss of active ingredients, Masterbatch selection: Masterbatch plays an important role in hose quality control. Therefore, when selecting masterbatch, user companies should consider whether the masterbatch has good dispersibility, filterability and thermal stability, weather resistance and product weather resistance.


The product resistance of masterbatch is particularly important in the use of hoses. If the masterbatch is incompatible with the installed product, the color of the masterbatch will be transferred to the product, resulting in very serious consequences. Therefore, daily chemical companies should conduct stability tests on new products and hoses (accelerated tests under specified conditions).


Varnish types and characteristics: Varnish for cosmetic hoses can be divided into UV type and heat drying type, and the appearance can be divided into bright surface and mist surface. The varnish can not only provide beautiful visual effects, but also protect the contents, and has a certain barrier effect on oxygen, water vapor and fragrance.


Generally speaking, heat drying varnish has good adhesion to subsequent printing and screen printing, while UV varnish has better gloss. Daily chemical companies can choose suitable varnish according to product characteristics. In addition, the cured varnish should have good adhesion, smooth surface, no pitting, bending resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and no discoloration during storage.


Requirements for tube body and tube head:


1. The surface of the tube body should be smooth, without stripes, scratches, strain and shrinkage deformation, the tube body should be straight and not bent, the tube wall thickness should be uniform, and the tolerance of the tube wall thickness, length and diameter should be within the specified range;


2. The tube head of the hose is firmly connected to the tube body, the wiring is neat, beautiful, and the width is uniform. The tube head may be skewed during injection and must not be connected;


3. The tube head and the tube cover match well, screw in and out smoothly, do not slip within the specified torque range, and there is no water or air leakage between the tube and the tube cover; Printing requirements: offset printing is generally used for hose processing, and the ink used is mostly ultraviolet drying, which generally requires the ink to have strong adhesion and color resistance. The printing color is within the specified depth range, the overprint position is accurate, the deviation is within 0.2 mm, and the font is complete and clear.


Plastic cover requirements: Plastic covers are generally injection molded with polypropylene (PP). High-quality plastic covers must not have obvious shrinkage lines and sharp edges. The mold line should be smooth and accurate in size, and the fit with the tube head should be smooth, and there should be no structural damage such as brittle cracking during normal use. For example, when the opening force is within the range, the cover should be able to withstand more than 300 turns without breaking.
