Bamboo cosmetic packaging manufacturing
I. Basic Parameters
Capacity and size
Small capacity models: 10g (41×25mm), 15g (45×26mm), etc., suitable for travel dispensing or small-size skin care products.
Regular capacity: 30g (58×28mm), 50g (64×36mm), suitable for cream and paste products.
Large capacity models: 100g (90×35mm), 80g (74×44mm), suitable for gift sets or highly consumable products.
Material combination
Bamboo body: natural bamboo is carbonized to prevent mildew, the surface retains the original wood color or carving process texture.
Composite structure:
Bamboo lid + frosted glass/acrylic liner (moisture-proof and leak-proof, suitable for liquid products).
Bamboo shell + replaceable cardboard inner box (pull-out design, flexible reuse).
Bamboo and rattan weaving process (national style gift box, such as double-drawer models load-bearing ≤ 5kg).
II. Functional Characteristics
Sealing and leakage prevention
Spiral mouth bamboo lid with silicone sealing ring, airtight to meet the requirements of liquid products (such as essential oils, serums).
Bottom filling design spray bottle (bamboo bottle + convenient refill structure), reduce disassembly loss.
Weight and Durability
The gross weight of the single box is about 2kg (including protective packaging), and the load capacity of the double drawer model is ≤5kg.
The surface of bamboo material is treated with beeswax coating to prevent moisture and deformation.
III. Aesthetic design parameters
Modeling and technology
Bamboo bionic modeling: natural bamboo joints combined with openwork carving, both functional and cultural expression.
Metal wrapping and gradient technology: such as morning mist white gradient frosted glass shell, enhance the high-end texture.
Color and Pattern
Log color, bamboo green and other natural colors are dominant, in line with the environmental protection brand tone.
National style elements (bamboo leaves, lotus carving) + gold outline, conveying oriental aesthetics.
IV. Bamboo cosmetic packaging environmental certification and standards analysis
1. Core environmental certification standards
HJ 2548-2018 Technical Requirements for Environmental Labeling Products Bamboo Products
Scope of application: to clarify the raw materials of bamboo products, production processes, toxic and hazardous substances limits and other environmental requirements, covering the entire production process of bamboo cosmetic packaging.
Key Indicators: Bamboo material is required to be treated with carbonization and anti-mold treatment, and no toxic adhesives containing formaldehyde and benzene are allowed to be used in the production process.
HJ Environmental Labeling Product Technical Requirements Cosmetics (2020 Edition)
Packaging requirements: Cosmetic packaging needs to use renewable/biodegradable materials (e.g. bamboo), ban PVC and other harmful plastics, and limit the number of packaging layers to reduce resource consumption.
2. International and local standards related to “Bamboo instead of Plastic
ISO 16830:2025 Bamboo Drinking Straws
Evaluation framework: As the first international standard on “replacing plastic with bamboo”, it proposes quantitative indexes such as substitution and emission reduction rate (≥30%) and material substitution rate (≥50%), which can be extended to the evaluation of the environmental protection efficiency of bamboo packaging.
Local Standard for Classification and Grading of Bamboo Substitute Plastic Products (2025)
Grading method: Classify the environmental protection grade of bamboo products (Grade A-AAA) through 3 types of indexes: substitution emission reduction rate, material substitution rate, and product renewal ratio, which is applicable to the low-carbon certification of cosmetic packaging.
3. Material Safety and Food Contact Standard Reference
GB 4806.12-2022 Bamboo and wood materials and products for food contact
Safety requirements: Although for the food field, there are strict limits on the sensory indicators (no mold, odor), migration (total migration ≤ 60mg/kg) and residues (formaldehyde ≤ 1mg/kg) of bamboo packaging, which can enhance the safety of cosmetic packaging.
Additive restrictions: waxes and oils for bamboo processing need to comply with the “GB 9685-2016 Food Contact Material Additive Standard”, and harmful preservatives such as pentachlorophenol are prohibited.
IV. the implementation of enterprise certification points
Traceability of raw materials: It is necessary to provide proof of the source of bamboo materials (such as FSC forest certification) to ensure that the raw materials come from sustainable bamboo forests.
Production process: physical carbonization or biological enzyme treatment instead of chemical bleaching to reduce the risk of sulfur dioxide residue.
Testing report: It is required to be tested by a third-party organization to verify the degradation cycle (≤5 years), carbon emission (≤1/3 of plastic) and other environmental parameters of bamboo packaging.
VI. Restrictions on use
Recommendation: Creams, loose powders, essential oils (need to match the inner container), gift sets.
Restrictions: Avoid storing strong acid/alkaline products with pH <4 or >9 to prevent corrosion of bamboo material.
